Vietnam is entering a new phase of infrastructure development, where investments in energy, industry, and digital infrastructure are becoming increasingly interconnected rather than evolving independently.
From LNG power projects and renewable energy developments to high-tech industrial parks and large-scale data centers, investment is accelerating across multiple sectors simultaneously. This trend reflects not only the growing demand for industrial capacity and digital services, but also the country’s broader transition toward a growth model driven by technology, data, and operational efficiency.
Against this backdrop, Energy, HVACR, and Data Centers are emerging as three essential pillars of Vietnam’s next-generation infrastructure ecosystem.
From capacity expansion to operational excellence
For many years, infrastructure development was primarily associated with building more power plants, industrial zones, and transportation networks. Today, however, the rapid growth of high-tech manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy is shifting the focus toward a different challenge: how to ensure these systems operate more efficiently, reliably, and sustainably.
Vietnam’s Revised Power Development Plan VIII (PDP VIII) projects annual electricity demand growth of 10-12%, with total installed capacity expected to reach 183-236 GW by 2030. Alongside grid expansion, the plan prioritizes renewable energy deployment and positions electricity as a critical enabler of the country’s economic growth strategy.
At the same time, energy efficiency, operational reliability, and resource optimization are becoming increasingly important priorities for investors and infrastructure operators.
Next-generation industrial infrastructure is creating more complex operational demands
The development of high-tech industrial zones is accelerating across Vietnam, ranging from large-scale manufacturing hubs supporting EV production, electronics, and advanced manufacturing to logistics centers integrated into global supply chains.
According to Cushman & Wakefield’s Waypoint: Global Industrial Dynamics 2026 report, Vietnam continues to emerge as one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic logistics markets, driven by supply chain diversification and the expansion of regional manufacturing and distribution networks. Demand for modern production facilities, logistics assets, and industrial infrastructure is growing rapidly, particularly in areas supported by strong transportation connectivity and integrated infrastructure systems.
This growth is creating higher requirements for energy management, environmental control, ventilation, and cooling systems. In many new developments, HVACR is no longer viewed as a supporting utility but as a critical component of long-term operational performance and cost optimization strategies.
Data centers are driving a new generation of infrastructure
One of the most significant growth drivers today is the rapid expansion of the data center sector.
According to Cushman & Wakefield’s Asia Pacific Data Centre Construction Cost Guide 2026, Vietnam is emerging as one of the region’s most promising data center markets due to its competitive development costs-ranging from USD 5.7 million to USD 8.7 million per MW and growing demand fueled by AI, cloud computing, and the digital economy. The report also highlights how AI workloads are reshaping data center design and operations, increasing requirements for power supply, cooling capacity, and infrastructure resilience.
This trend is reflected in the development of hyperscale data center projects across Vietnam, designed to support AI applications, cloud services, and large-scale data processing.
As computing density continues to increase, cooling has become a critical factor in operational performance. As a result, HVACR is playing an increasingly strategic role within the digital infrastructure ecosystem, particularly in facilities that require continuous uptime and high operational reliability.
Renewable energy and green infrastructure are becoming strategic priorities
Alongside digitalization and industrialization, sustainability is increasingly influencing how infrastructure projects are planned and delivered.
Recent policy developments are accelerating the adoption of renewable energy, eco-industrial park models, and ESG-driven manufacturing practices. According to Vietnam Briefing’s 2026 analysis, industrial parks across the country are expanding the deployment of rooftop solar systems, circular economy initiatives, and energy management solutions to meet growing sustainability expectations from international investors.
Installed rooftop solar capacity in industrial parks exceeded 3,200 MWp during 2024 – 2025, while the estimated technical potential is projected to surpass 40,000 MWp nationwide.
These developments are creating new opportunities for high-efficiency HVACR technologies, energy optimization solutions, and sustainable operational models.
Capturing opportunities in an integrated infrastructure ecosystem
The convergence of Energy, HVACR, and Data Centers is creating new opportunities across the entire infrastructure value chain. As demand for power, cooling, automation, and digital infrastructure continues to grow, the ability to connect with the right partners and stay ahead of emerging trends will become a key competitive advantage.
